First we go to Skirball to see ‘Howard Zinn: Voices of a People’s History of the United States.’ It’s a collection of essays from famous and not-so-famous U.S. citizens, compiled from hundreds of years of amazing history. These essays are read, performed, and in some cases sung live on stage by a selection of special guests. This selection is kept a secret until the night of the show, but past performers have included Viggo Mortensen, Marisa Tomei, Kerry Washington, Jane Fonda and others. Whether you’re a history buff or you just love to see amazing displays of interpretation and talent, you will love this show. Reserve your spot SOON because space is limited!
Then everyone is invited to Sunday brunch (!!!) While enjoying free food we’ll show clips of your favorite shows that highlight the diverse history that plays out of your TV every week. Is your life and background accurately represented on screen? Or are you still waiting for a show that relates to your life story? What do Disney movies have to do with your life anyway…? All questions that we’ll discuss on October 5th.
