NYU Bike Share @ Laf

25 04 2011

Future Bike Sharers,

The NYU Bike Share program will be coming to Lafayette this week! What NYU Bike Share Program is: Borrow any of the bikes at any of the seven residence halls at NYU and return to any of the residence halls later that day! Lafayette will have 4 bikes that can be borrowed at any time (and more depending on how much they are used!!)

For More Information: http://www.nyu.edu/sustainability/campus.projects/bike.share/

NYU Bike Share Training (Mandatory):

In order to join you must first attend an information and safety session. There will be one held:

Date: Wednesday, April 27, 20011

Time: 5:00-6:00 PM

Location: Rec Room, Lafayette Hall

RSVP: http://www.nyu.edu/rsvp/event.php?e_id=3555

Bicycling can be a safe, healthy, sustainable, and fun way to get around Manhattan and the boroughs. However, getting a bike can be an expensive and intimidating proposition. NYC’s expensive bike shops, unique traffic patterns, and high theft rates may scare off some prospective bikers but they don’t have to! The NYU Bike share is a brand new program that lends bikes to students, faculty, and staff for FREE. These sessions ensure that you that you get all of your safety questions answered. To find out more and to enroll in the program please come to one of our informational workshops and bike safety trainings.

If you have any questions, contact Lafayette RLA Peter Davis (pjd276@nyu.edu) or RHRM Courtney Heywood (ch108@nyu.edu).

Also “like” the NYU Bike Share Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/NYUBikeShare

Again, you must come to a safety training before you can borrow bikes from the Bike Share

3rd Annual Ski (& Snowboarding) Trip

17 02 2011

Join awesome RA’s Joann, Andrew, & Suzy on an adventurous trip to Hunter Mountain for fun in some actual clean, not slushy, snow! Not only will you get a break from the stress we’re sure you have in your life, but you will be getting a coach bus ride, equipment rental, and a lift ticket, all for the

highly reduced price of $25!

That’s like 90% off!

There are just a few things you need to know before racing down to the Resource Center to claim one of the 10 Lafayette spots on the trip:

If this sounds intriguing, but you’re thinking to yourself ‘I’ve never even seen what ski’s look like, can I still go?’ Of course you can! Just select the beginner package which includes a 1.5 hour group lesson, ski or snowboard rental, and access to all the easy slopes.

If you’re a total pro (or want to risk getting off the bunny hills), you’ll be getting an all access pass to all the slopes open on the mountain along with your rental. AND there’s also an added bonus for all you snow bunnies out there: if you bring your own equipment on the trip, you will only have a $15 co-pay! (*note though that you cannot get the beginner package at this price, even if you have your own equipment).

We will be leaving from 715 Broadway (the NYU bus stop) at 6:45am SHARP on Saturday February 26th. We should arrive at Hunter Mountain in upstate NY around 9:30am. Upon arrival, you will be given your vouchers and will spend the day at your leisure. Please note that you will be responsible for your meals on this trip. You can either pack something with you, or purchase food at the lodge once there. Then you just have to be back at the bus at 4:30pm to leave the mountain and get back to the city (hopefully) around 7:30pm.

When you come to drop off your co-pay, be advised that you will have to leave your contact information (name, phone number & emergency contact). You will also have to sign a liability waiver upon boarding the bus on Saturday morning otherwise you will not be allowed to go.

Now dash off to the Resource Center to sign up!
