NYU Bike Share Training (Mandatory):

In order to join you must first attend an information and safety session. There will be one held:

Date: Wednesday, April 27, 20011

Time: 5:00-6:00 PM

Location: Rec Room, Lafayette Hall

RSVP: http://www.nyu.edu/rsvp/event.php?e_id=3555

Bicycling can be a safe, healthy, sustainable, and fun way to get around Manhattan and the boroughs. However, getting a bike can be an expensive and intimidating proposition. NYC’s expensive bike shops, unique traffic patterns, and high theft rates may scare off some prospective bikers but they don’t have to! The NYU Bike share is a brand new program that lends bikes to students, faculty, and staff for FREE. These sessions ensure that you that you get all of your safety questions answered. To find out more and to enroll in the program please come to one of our informational workshops and bike safety trainings.

If you have any questions, contact Lafayette RLA Peter Davis (pjd276@nyu.edu) or RHRM Courtney Heywood (ch108@nyu.edu).

Also “like” the NYU Bike Share Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/NYUBikeShare

Again, you must come to a safety training before you can borrow bikes from the Bike Share

LGBTQ Service Course

Seeking Site Leaders for “LGBTQ Movements and Advocacy in Dominican Republic” Class and Service Trip

Deadline EXTENDED — Apply by: Monday, May 3, 2010

Being a Site Leader is an incredibly rewarding experience, but is also one that takes considerable commitment.  Included in the commitment is the ability to do an extended series of pre and post trip sessions with your group to build teamwork and knowledge around the issues facing communities you will serve, attending a site leader retreat and trainings, fundraising for the trip, and traveling during winter or spring break.

This service-learning course will explore gender and sexuality-based social justice movements, non-governmental organizations and queer cultures in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, specifically in island of Dominican Republic. We will specifically explore the mechanisms through which different feminist and LGBTQ Dominican groups and organizations have generated consciousness around the realities of people who experience discrimination because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

For more detailed Site Leader description, please visit: http://www.osa.nyu.edu/content/ableaderapp/descriptions.php

If you are interested in this opportunity, and you are a NYU student, we would like you to fill out the Site Leader application at this link: http://www.osa.nyu.edu/content/ableader

Meet the PRESIDENT

21 04 2010

…the President of NYU, that is. John Sexton will be making a special appearance at the Green Apple Move-Out Kickoff event. Those big blue bins in the lobby are not just weird carts but the perfect opportunity to donate your used items instead of leaving them for the janitorial staff to throw away (yeah, we know you’re guilty). So come drop off your unwanted and gently used items (or nonperishable food) and help turn your trash into someone’s treasure. If you come to Founders tomorrrow you’ll get the chance to see JSex’s gently used stuff…

‘No Longer Just The Tele’
(The New Dramatic Vision)
Thursday 4/15 @ 8pm
Broome St. Residence Hall, Broome Room, 1st Floor
Craig Volk
With the advent of the Internet’s platform, the reach for media
presentations is now readily global. Creation of dramatic content is no
longer the sole province of Hollywood or major entertainment centers.
YouTube and other video streaming venues have become primary delivery
systems for getting one’s creative efforts into the world. Concurrently, the
development of mobisodes and webisodes is adding a new layer to the means
and methods for generating an alternative for traditional series television.
In this session, award-winning television and stage writer Craig Volk
explores the history and changing dynamic of dramatic content for television
and beyond. Drawing upon his extensive experience as a writer and producer
for the television industry, Volk will supplement his presentation with
video examples creating new streams of series content created in
collaboration with his students.
